What type of people or companies can become InnerG window dealers?
We are looking for two types of people/companies to license as dealers: building contractors with expertise in renovations or committed sales professionals and small business people with contacts in real estate and building trades.
At a minimum, you need to create a small business structure to serve your customers. You will need basics like telephone service, voice mail, business cards and other business essentials. Nice-to-have’s are things like a credit card merchant account, a website, and a showroom – but these are not necessary to get started. We have small local dealers that work out of their garage, and we have large companies that do millions of dollars worth of construction and renovation annually. Dealers are required to purchase a small amount of demonstration equipment and product samples that we will credit against your first sale. In some cases we will waive the purchase cost and apply the charge to your first sale in advance, in order to reduce your out-of pocket expenses.
How do I become a dealer?
Just contact us via email or the telephone, we will tell you if we have a dealer in your area. Dealers are expected to sell and service customers year-round, we do not offer dealer pricing to individuals who only want to install windows on one property.
Do I need any specialized training to sell the product?
No. We will provide you with product information and will also give you some pointers where you should focus your efforts. Each market is different, however, and you will have to find out what works for your business
Do I need any training to install the product?
No. General familiarity with construction is useful, but not required. We can put you in touch with contractors that you can use to perform your installation for a fee, if you wish.
Are there any special tools required?
There are a few small tools required to install the product. We can give you a list of these tools, and most do-it-yourselfers will already have them
How does the pricing schedule work?
The windows are priced based on their size, so each window must be individually measured in order to provide a price quote. We will provide you with a schedule that gives you the list pricing in 6 inch increments to use as a guide, and we can also provide you with an Excel spreadsheet that you can use to calculate exact prices if you wish. Once you provide us with the measurement for your windows we will provide you with an actual price quote.
How do I make money?
You make money in two ways – you make a margin on each window you sell, and you also charge your customer for installation services. Some dealers also provide a service where they remove, clean, and store the windows for their customers in the summer for a nominal fee.
What about payment?
Since every InnerG window is custom built to your customer’s specifications, we require a 50% deposit before we will begin work on any order. Acrylic Window Innovations accepts Visa, MC, Amex in order to streamline the order process or you may just courier/mail us a cheque so we may begin. We also suggest that you collect deposits, if possible, from your customers before you commence work on any job.
What about shipping?
All of our product is shipped FOB Saint John , NB. We can provide you quotes for shipping costs at the time of your order. Just contact us.
What is my discount, and can I change it over time?
We will assign you a starting discount and terms when you sign up as a dealer, based on the area you serve and your experience with this type of product. After that, we will renegotiate your discount according to our published discount schedule. Should you go over your sales target, we will adjust the discount immediately, and should you not meet the target we will renegotiate the discount on an annual basis. Just contact us for more information
How do I get a quote for a window job?
First, you have to be a dealer. We don’t quote business direct to customers, we feel that would violate our agreement with our existing dealers. After you contact us and get a dealer arrangement setup, you need to measure your windows accurately using our measurement chart. Then you should either fax us the chart (fax # 506.672.7062), or enter the numbers into our website’s order form. We will then provide you an official estimate that you can use to calculate your price to the customer.
How do I place an order?
If you have an existing quote, just contact us and tell us that you want to order the product. If you don’t have a quote, just fax or email us the measurements, or use our on-line order form for immediate service and we will invoice you for the product
How long does it take to get windows delivered?
It depends on how busy our plant is, but it usually takes about 3-4 weeks from receipt of the order. Rush order are possible, and we can often deliver product in under two weeks.
Are there any sample kits that I can use to help me sell?
Yes. We have a sample kit that contains two small demonstration windows, as well as samples of all of our parts and our mounting equipment. We also produce sample windows with frames that you can use as a sales aid or place in your showroom or booth. Contact us for pricing.
Do you have any brochures or other product information that would help me to sell?
Yes. This material is always evolving, but samples and small numbers of brochures are available for free and they are always available for free download. Large brochure orders that you can use for trade shows or direct mail campaigns will incur a small printing charge. Just contact us for more info, and visit the dealer section of our website for downloadable brochures, technical bulletins, and product information.
Can you give me any advice to get started selling this product?
It is best to talk to our sales staff directly about this, but here are a few general guidelines. The easiest place to begin with this product is in heritage areas. Most heritage-designated buildings have older, leaky windows and the building owners cannot easily replace them because of the heritage building codes. The InnerG window is satisfies all of the heritage building requirements since it is installed inside and is invisible to the outside viewer, and it is a cost-effective solution to the heritage landlord’s biggest problem, leaky windows. Other good applications are in older commercial buildings, and rental accommodations where the landlord includes heat as part of the rent – any savings here go right to the landlord’s bottom line.
The key to selling our product lies in showing the InnerG window in action. Demo sites, reference accounts, and “try and buy” programs are the way that we expose our product to the market. Once a few installations are in place, satisfied customers provide many new references via word of mouth. Contact us if you wish to discuss installing a “try and buy” or discounted demo installation in a high traffic area like a restaurant, church, or historic building.
I have just sold a big job and need assistance installing it, can you help me?
We will provide installation consulting services, but we aren’t an installation contractor. We prefer to work with your local installation crew to train them to handle any type of installation. We charge for these services on a time and expenses basis, so contact us for more information.
